General FAQ
What is included in employment with ER24?

Competitive remuneration packages including uniforms and PPE (except steel capped metatarsal boots for casual employees).

How is the work roster structured?

Most of our rosters are an even time roster, however may vary from site to site and are determined by our clients.

Will I need to do night shifts as well?

Yes, if night shift is required on a site.

What type of contract will I be offered?

ER24 appreciate the time and financial commitment to the recruitment process so all applicants who successfully finish the process will be issued a contract.  Initially all employees are offered casual contracts as this gives the employee and ER24 an opportunity to see if working on an even time roster is suitable for you.

Who is responsible for maintaining clinical currency and certificates?

This is primarily the applicants/employees responsibility however it is also monitored/tracked at Head Office.

What is the pay cycle?

Our pay cycle is fortnightly.

Will I be able to contact my family while I’m away?

Yes, all sites have phone coverage and internet coverage.

Will I be required to undergo medicals?

Yes, you will be required to undergo a ER24 Pre-Employment medical, which will be organised by our Recruitment Coordinator during the recruitment process.

Will I be required to hold a Coal Board Medical?

If you are required to work in the mining industry, you will be required to hold a current Coal Board Medical. 

Where do I get a Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme (formerly the Coal Board Medical)? Can I go to any Doctor?   

The Coal Mine Workers’ Health Scheme (Coal Board Medical) can only be completed at an accredited Nominated Medical Advisor (NMA) who is registered with the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, please see the link below:

Approximate costs and length of the recruitment process?

The recruitment process can be expensive and may vary with the cost of courses/mandatory requirements.  Please be advised that there will be a cost incurred to complete the minimum mandatory requirements if you do not already hold the qualifications or certificates.

Paramedical
What qualifications and experience do I need?
Paramedics
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Paramedic (mandatory)
  • Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Ambulance) or equivalent
  • Practicing at P3 to P4 level, post panel
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Currency
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Certificate
  • Queensland Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator accreditation (desirable)
  • ER24 Pre-Employment Medical
  • Coal Board Certified (only required if working on a mine site)
  • Standard 11/Generic Induction (only required if working on a mine site)
  • Full ASIO and Police Clearance with Ammonium Nitrate
  • Open class driver’s licence (for a manual motor car)
  • Proof of qualifications
  • Computer literate – e.g. MS Office Suite
  • Certificate III Mines Emergency Response & Rescue or Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) including the units below (highly desirable):
    • Employ Personal Protection at HAZMAT Incident
    • Render Hazardous Materials Incident Safe
    • Conduct Fire Team Operations
    • Operate Breathing Apparatus
    • Undertake Road Accident Rescue
    • Undertake Confined Space Rescue
    • Undertake Vertical Rescue
    • Pump Operations

You must be able to demonstrate clinical currency to the prescribed criteria of a Paramedic 3 (Advanced Care) or Paramedic 4 (Intensive Care) within the last 12 months prior to date of application.

Security
What qualifications and experience do I need?
Security and Site Access Controller
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current Security Licence to practice in the state of Australia you are applying for
  • Certificate II in Security Operations with partial Cert III:
    • Crowd Control
    • CCTV Monitoring
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Certificate
  • ER24 Pre-Employment Medical
  • Coal Board Certified (only required if working on a mine site)
  • Standard 11/Generic Induction (only required if working on a mine site)
  • Full ASIO and Police Clearance with Ammonium Nitrate
  • Open class driver’s licence (for a manual motor car)
  • Proof of qualifications
  • Computer literate – e.g. MS Office Suite
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate
  • Although not essential, rescue qualifications would be seen as an advantage:
    • Certificate III Mines Emergency Response & Rescue including the units below (desirable):
      • Employ Personal Protection at HAZMAT Incident
      • Render Hazardous Materials Incident Safe
      • Conduct Fire Team Operations
      • Operate Breathing Apparatus

  • Certificate III Mines Emergency Response & Rescue or Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) including the units below:

    • Render Hazardous Materials Incident Safe
    • Conduct Fire Team Operations
    • Operate Breathing Apparatus
    • Undertake Road Accident Rescue
    • Undertake Confined Space Rescue

  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Certificate

Mine Site Nurses
What qualifications and experience do I need?
Mine Site Nurse
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (mandatory)
  • Bachelor of Nursing (mandatory)
  • Current Clinical Currency (mandatory)
  • Queensland Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator accreditation
  • Experience in emergency/ICU/CCU or similar (highly desirable)
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Certificate
  • ER24 Pre-Employment Medical
  • Coal Board Certified, with the ability to work underground and participate in mine rescue (only required if working on a mine site)
  • Ability to undertake rescue operations (mandatory)
  • Standard 11/Generic Induction (only required if working on a mine site)
  • Full ASIO and Police Clearance with Ammonium Nitrate
  • Open class driver’s licence (for a manual motor car)
  • Proof of qualifications
  • Computer literate – e.g. MS Office Suite
    • Certificate III Mines Emergency Response & Rescue including the units below (desirable):
